Every year around board results, lakhs of Indian families have the same argument at the dinner table. The stream form is coming, and everyone has an opinion — the tuition teacher, the neighbour whose son cracked JEE, the uncle who insists "Science rakho, options khule rehte hain."
Here is the uncomfortable truth: keeping options open is not a strategy. A stream your child cannot sustain for two years closes far more doors than it opens.

What are the stream options after Class 10 in India?

What if my child does not know what they want?

- A small holiday project in one candidate field — two weekends of trying design work teaches more about fit than a year of speculating
A student who has tested a field has data. A student who has only been asked repeatedly has anxiety.
Can a student change streams after Class 11?
Yes, but the window is narrow and the cost is real. Most schools allow a switch within the first few weeks of Class 11, subject to seat availability and school policy. After that, changing usually means repeating a year or switching boards.
